Western Medicine has been incorporating Eastern Medicine modalities more and more as it is being accepted by physicians and as more and more people are demanding it. Ayurvedic Medicine (from India) is considered to be the oldest form of medicine and has served as a great foundation for other medicine modalities that were later developed. Functional Medicine, developed in the early 1990’s, developed a language that replaced what Ancient Medicine did with symbols and symbolism.
Our guest, Dr. Deanna Minich, is an internationally-recognized lifestyle medicine expert, a creative visionary, author, artist, yoga practioner, and healer. Her twenty years of experience in the nutrition and functional medicine fields led her to develop an integrated, “whole self” approach to nutrition called Food & Spirit (www.foodandspirit.com), which is the practice of understanding one’s eating and living through seven core symbolic themes. She believes that our spiritual, creative, symbolic connection with food is essential.
Her approach to healing is to look at each patient as a whole person comprised of seven “Aspects” which comes from ancient traditions. She says that every program that they offer taps into a person’s seven Aspects to create healing and bring forth their inner potential. She offers a free questionaire on one of her websites (whole-detox.com) and formulates a Detox Program for each person based on their questionaire. The Whole Detox program can help you transform your seven systems People that have done it have told her that they have better energy, less Brain Fog, and less Fatigue overall; also less joint pain, digestive issues subside and they sleep better and when you sleep better you actually end up eating better and make better choices; and many, many other improvements.
SHE SAYS THAT WHEN YOU CHANGE ONE ASPECT OF YOUR HEALTH YOU’RE GOING TO END UP CHANGING ALL OF THE OTHERS.
Her unique philosphy about food and how she uses it in her healing can be found on her Food and Spirit website (foodandspirit.com)
Other topics we discussed included her own fascinating personal history how she became a healer; our body’s own built-in detox mechanisms; and about clinics adopting Integrative Medicine, having different modalities under one roof.
